I would like to add, do not have printers and the all-in-one copy, fax, print and network machines esaily available. People in most businesses print way too much. Introduce and train people to use collaboration tools for all kinds of digital media production.

Though some may feel that office greening is too expensive, in actuality, it is more cost-effective in the short and long term to implement simple eco-friendly changes. For example, turning off lights in empty rooms and printing on the back of scratch paper are both simple ways to save money and help the environment. An energy-saving CFL light bulb might cost a little more today, but it uses 75% less energy and lasts 10x longer than traditional bulbs. Same goes for solar panels (which will soon be available widely). They may cost more today, but you'll be rewarded with both lower energy bills and a lower carbon footprint. I've been working from home for about a year now and I can definitely agree that it is a huge benefit to the company. Thomas - great call on the printer use: you wouldn't believe how many people waste paper instead of just reading PDFs on a screen.

Buying green is another great option and as more corporations become aware of the global necessity to push sustainability efforts forward it is becoming easier to do this. One of our clients, Sharp, has a factory in Kameryama, Japan that runs using 33% solar energy and other renewable sources. So it's not just about a product being green but the way it was produced. There's more info on them on our SMNR - http://sharp.smnr.us and we're actually going to create a page about all of Sharp's other green efforts.

I'm all for the push to be green - thanks for the tips!
