It's comcast's DNS servers. They are all messed up. It's a national problem.

I've been in the same boat my friend. Very frustrating.
• Aaron Brazell · 4 years ago
Yeah I had a sneaking suspicion it was DNS. It seemed like it was.
• Mike · 4 years ago
And I thought it was me... Go figure...
• Aaron Brazell · 4 years ago
I made the router switches to 4.1.1.1 and 4.2.2.2 and all seems hunky dory now.
• Sean M. Crawford Sr · 4 years ago
Thanks for that info. I didn't go on at all last night. And you are not by yourself I need to pass GOD's too. But I believe in the end we both will.

Love you bro'

I had the same trouble last night. Very irritating when you're trying to send a proposal to a new client for approval. Good thing everything was functional when I woke up this morning :).

COMCAST INTERNET NAZIS

Comcast is ass, I pay for a full service account at my home and get no rights. They say that because their are two accounts at one house the first account is the owner. So in spite of paying 42 dollars a month I still have to ask the other people living here to call comcast for support. Now their service is crapping out all the time and of course noone gets a refund.

I can't wait to go to DSL who also offer free newsgroups. Comcast now only allows 1 gb dl. Shit I go through that just getting headers. Hope Comcast goes the way of the dinosaur or Keech from gangs of NY.

Same problem here, It is terrible to get so frustrated. they actualy had the gaul to suggest it was my Pc. I checked everything, connection in and out in and out. Finally I got fromof the reps to agree that comcast was having problems with there network. Is it time to Change?
• Aaron Brazell · 4 years ago
Sure if you want to give up 4Mbps for 768Kps with DSL. Where I am, there is only one cable internet provider. Alot of sellers who sell over Comcast services but if Comcast is having problems, so will they.
• David Nick · 4 years ago
I have dsl and I pay for a 3Mbps/384kbps line. Granted during the busy times I am lucky to get 1.5Mbps, but atleast it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick and I will take that over Cable any day :)

I run 3 PC's and VOIP (Voice over internet via router) through comcast in Chicago. After the introduction of their new server all kinds o probs started happening. First we start getting connection probs while gaming. So the send out 2 "lower" technicians to fix it. Retards. They changed the modem to a more "sensitive" one (which means that it works on less of a signal, how less of a signal helps in their mind I dont know) and left saying it was fixed. It wasnt. Much much slower, router barely works. So we call and they send another tech out. How does he attemp to fix the prob? Switch the modem again. Doesn't work. But instead of trying to figure it out he says he has to get to personal engagement, this is after 10 min. The frustration starts. Next night while dealing with the connect probs the whole damn thing goes down, with no internet we have no freakin phone to call these idiots, VOIP + Comcast not a great idea. So I walk to a payphone 3 blocks away. Call comcast and what do I get? BUSY. WTF. Cant even call and yell at the people! Turns out its a "national" outage and no one can get a webpage up, but they dont know when it will end, great. Next day I get ahold of em and another tech is sent. This guy isnt so bad since he agrees with me that comcast does suck, however he tells me that im pretty much screwed since he has the same probs at his house and cant fix em. Wow. He changes the modem again (3rd if u were not counting). He checks all the lines and connections, all good. Modem works ok this time all seems half decent (a lot slower than before still but, Ill take this for now). I swear the second the guy gets in his van the whole thing goes down again! BACK TO THE PAYPHONE. Again the guy is back and switching modems (4 now right?) and once again we are to half decent with connection probs. Why are we still here? anyway. We decide to use the online help through comcast. Jeffrey is there. We explain the probs and he apologizes and offers to send another tech out. Wait a second here. We tell em thats been done 4 times already, and we want a manager or someone who knows what they are doing out here. He says only the first tech can request a ---> "higher"

I didn't have connection for 3 days, and the connection has been on and off in the past month, when I called, they suggested it's my problem and want to send people to check, also saying it's gonna charge me because the modem is mine...

It really sucks. I don't have DSL available in my area, I will give up comcast for any DSL as soon as it's avaiable.

It's almost the end of April, let me add my bit. Here in Dallas, since beginning of Apr, have had techs out twice, checking signal levels, made a few tweaks, seemed OK. But no. Has steadily gone downhill. I want to thank Comcast for taking us back to the Internet of 1994. When I am not getting 50% to 100% packet loss, I have the response of a 14.4 dialup connection (optimistically) plus there is an obvious problem with their DNS, since a simple PING of yahoo.com yields "Unkown host". Finally got a tech to admit there are probs in 3 areas of Dallas Metro area; you can bet I am asking for credits for every day this is going on. I switched from DSL but at this point will be happy to switch back. Comcast, you really SUCK!
• Aaron Brazell · 4 years ago
Have you changed your DNS to 4.1.1.1 and 4.2.2.2 like suggested?
• Martin · 4 years ago
I don't have a website so that is not affecting me. However, I can't reach another site by name if that name is not resolving to an IPA.
• Aaron Brazell · 4 years ago
You don't have to have a website. In fact, the issue has nothing to do with websites. It has to do with your Comcast connection. If you do an ipconfig /all from the command line, you will see at least 2 DNS servers listed - probably of the 67.x.x.x, 68.x.x.x or 69.x.x.x variety. If Comcast's DNS are fubar, then the problem affects the ability of your connection to translate any hostname (i.e. website, mail server, etc) that your computer might use (including webpages in a webrowser) into the appropriate IP address. It's called NAT (Network Address Translation) that associates a hostname with an IP address. NAT works through DNS and if the DNS is fubar, so is the ability of your computer or router to translate those addresses.
• Martin · 4 years ago
Uh, duh, I did change them. Is a reboot necessary to start using them? Doing some of this for the first time.
• Aaron Brazell · 4 years ago
1. Make the change to both your router and your PC

2. power off your Cable modem and Router and let sit for 30 seconds

3. power up your cable modem and allow it to innitialize fully

4. power up your router and ensure there's a signal (link light flashing) for your routers internet connection

5. disable your network connection in Windows. then re-enable

6. For good measure, type ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew from the command line

If you don't have a router, then ignore the router portion of the solution.

The last few months i have been having horrible problems with my ping. I am an online gamer and ping is everything to us as well as quality so when my ping starts to hit 130 - 150 i call comcast. First they tell me to unplugg the power on my modem and plug it back in and do the same for my router. I do this and nothing happens i call back they say move your computer close to your router...??? I then ask for a tech to come out the next day. The tech does come out dinks around for about less than 20 mins says everything is fine and leaves. My ping is still hitting extremely high compared to others in my area. I ask for another technician about a week later and this guy tells me its my router he says its broken or its not workin? so i connect my computer directly to my modem and still that does nothing and then i call out a third guy two days later and all he says is everything looks alright and leaves. GG i hate comcast there the most worthless isp and i would switch ISP if i could but there the only available one in my area

I am sick and tired of putting up with comcast. Every day and night i just try to play some computer games and it doesnt let me or it lags me up like insane. Even right now comcast is lagging me while i am typing this. I think we should all switch from comcast to something else. Comcast i have to say is genuine garbage. They dont deserve so many customers. Together we should all switch from the trash known as comcast and destroy their sickening connection.

I finally told Comcast to take a flying leap! I am back to antenna TV and dial up internet. I get better picture from rabbit ears and more time actually connected from dial up!! Trying to disconnect was a nightmare! They suddenly claimed I possessed two of their modems (I never had ONE, I purchased my own and when it died replaced it myself too! thus two MAC addresses) They admit they've never charged me for rent, but....jeez what a pain! I hate Comcast!! Good thing I never did VOIP, I knew we'd never be connected enough to count on it!
