Technosailor: Paint Job

I like it better, but your right bar is dropping below the content.

    Thanks Stacie. What OS/Browser/Resolution?
  • Stacie · 3 years ago
    IE 1024 x 678 laptop screen.
  • Aaron Brazell · 3 years ago
Alright I'll be tweaking IE6 today. I only have IE7 at home(which renders perfectly) so I have to work with IE6 today.

I was to lazy to make my blog work perfectly with IE, so I just put this in at the top:

<!--[if IE]>Resiny.org does not support Internet Explorer. Life is simply too short. Browse Happy.<![endif]-->

I'm looking at it in Safari right now, and it looks alright to me...

The "Where Aaron Can Be Found" is a little wird.... not sure what it is but the links sink together a little to much.. Maybe something like

    That Damn PC
(tab/space) -> Renaming the Recycle bin

    ProBlogger Blog Tips
    (tab/space) -> Humanity Still Trumps

Here's a screen shot of it in safari / webkit... picture taking Paparazzi!

    Oh,

And sorry for another post, but maybe you should make the "Posting your comment... " text stand out just a little bit more ;) maybe add some rotating image or something... it kinda blends into "Leave a comment.." and I was like, wtf, why isn't my comment posting ;)
  • Aaron · 3 years ago
Thanks for the feedback, Eric. I'm pretty happy about Safari now that I'm seeing a screenshot...

I'm (supposedly) doing some work at the library...the computer's using IE 6, I'm pretty sure at 800 x 600. The whole site looks great except for the fact that on the main page the sidebar is dropping below the content. Probably fixed without too much work
  • Aaron · 3 years ago
Oh well. Not even going to cater to 800x600. That decision is official now. Up until this version, I catered to 800x600. Looking at my stats, I could care less about 800x600.

ala A List Apart (no pun intended)

I did the same thing myself, because it's too much trouble, and because it's people's choice/responsibility to read my blog, not my responsiblity to make a blog customized to their needs and deliver it to them. If they want to hang around, cool, but if not I'm not going to kill myself over it

    (like the Ajax comments, btw)

    Aaron,

The screen shot I took is 800x600 (well, 1610 because of the length of your page), and it looks fine to me.
  • Jesse · 3 years ago
Eric- you're on Safari, correct? I think the problem is mainly an IE thing (huge surprise) and not as much a resolution thing, though it might display normally in IE at a normal resolution
  • Eric Coleman · 3 years ago
    Yeah, Safari.

And Aaron, if you need any mac screen shots, drop me a line ;)
  • Travis Seitler · 3 years ago
    Ah, much prettier!

It'd be nice if you could see the tiny links in the tag cloud... at least when focused... ;)

I gotta tell ya - the new look is nice. IE6 1024X768, laptop LCD. The old look was kinda jumbled together on the right side (comments, posts from other blogs, survey all ran together) - all with the same settings as above. I kept meaning to do a screen cap to send to you, but then you revamped.
  • Aaron · 3 years ago
Yeah Sean.... I know. It was driving me crazy to heave to hear about it all the time. One of the leading factors in refactoring things.
