If she was upset about more vivid, graphic language that's one thing...but "damn" and "hell"? - that's ridiculous. What does she want you to say, "gosh darn it, golly gee?"

See, the role we husbands have been given in this cosmic play called "marriage" is that of Jesus Christ, loving our wives "as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish." Losing self interest does not mean giving up your identity; rather, it is only when you "<a href="http://www.biblegateway.com... 2:1-18&version=47" rel="nofollow">take the form of a servant</a>" that you gain an identity worth having.

You have a point Travis. I could simply acquiesce, quietly keeping my vulgarity from her ear shot. Things would be normal, my wife could therefore go on and think her hubby is a man of compromise.

Does it then make me a heel if I decide that I must have a small breakdown in etiquette and toss a couple of "D" or "H" bombs out there?

Don't kid yourself, she's a great woman and I would never put down her style of beliefs despite me throwing it under the blog-o-scope for extensive examination.

Marriage after all is about losing the "self" interests and embracing the "we" interests, but does that mean giving up your identity?

Well, I use some profanity some times. I try not to use it much online (particularly on my blogs) as it can affect advertising, but mostly if done in excess.

I think that there are curse words - damn, shit, ass - then there are reall bad curse words - F--- B---- C---. Alot depends on the context. Saying damn when you hit your finger with a hammer isn't too bad. Saying it in everyday conversation can get a little annoying.

erm... we argue over words too....

I normally consider the following ok:

bitch
ass
shit
damn
hell

Fine.... not sure if these are borderlines or not... but then again, look at it another way ;)

bitch is a female dog, ass is a body part, shit is a by-product of food intake, damn.. well, not sure, and hell is a place ;)

So, all are good by me ;) Then again, im much more "profane" that you seem to be.... Not sure how it happened, guess I picked i tup working outside for a paving company full time for several years ;)
