Technosailor: Serendipity-to-WordPress Import

  • Carol · 3 years ago
I hope the search engines pick up this post, because the Serendipity forum had a few posts about imports to Wordpress, but there were never any responses that seemed to work.

Thanks again, Aaron -- I'm so happy to be back on WordPress...I did like Serendipity, but WP is more functional for me.

If there's one thing about WordPress, it's that there's never any shortage of people who want to switch over from another platform.

My next goal is to find someone who wants to come over from Typo.

I love WP, it amazes me the things that can be done and the plugins available. I have stopped building sites and use wordpress ofr everything now.

This was me a few months ago - and I never looked back. WordPress (and you) have been very good for me.

I also would like to migrate a blog from s9y to wordpress. It would be great if you can help me.

Serendipity is not so bad, but I got used to Wordpress and would like to move an other, older blog from s9y to Wordpress. Is your import tool available for download somewhere?
  • Giovani · 2 years ago
Hi, I tried your plugin, but I have some portuguese(brazilian) and italian characters on the s9y database, and those were imported as "?".
Ciould you help me? Pls reply to my pvt email.. thanks so much.

There are a lot of us out there that want to switch. The main reason we haven't switched yet is because our blog has lots of links and comments that we don't want to lose and we haven't found much success with getting all that over with the std. import tools.

Have you been able to tackle that issue?

S9y has some great features but in terms of interface and usability it's sorely lacking. Our non technical writers and even some of our technical writers are so frustrated with S9y.

I usually do work on these things when I have a business interest to do so.
I have not had any s9y conversion work recently, so I haven't put more work
into this. Would be happy to discuss contract opportunities with you. The
benefit being for you as well as all s9y users who want to switch and don't
have the perfect tool yet. This importer gets us most of the way there but
    not completely, as you note.
