- Interesting article and comments. A couple of things to consider: 1. Open Office 3.0 for the Mac or Google Docs 2. The faster startup (boot and hibernating) and lack of crashing OS can really...
- I really like the approach you've taken into prove the price specifications, cause at the end of the day, it is a yesterdays fact, that Mac is more expensive than PC, nevertheless you have...
- I didn't know you were a fanboy. When did that happen?
- You can create PDFs with a little program called PDF Converter 5 Pro from Buy.com for $99. Throw in a copy of OpenOffice software and the Dell is cheaper than the Apple. I don't buy it.
- Totally agree that many companies should not consider the Apple solution. That said, most 'no' answers are based on the pricepoint of hardware and in many cases, the TCO is actually cheaper...

Even During a Recession, Small Businesses Still Should Consider Macbooks started by Aaron Brazell
I was talking to someone recently who just took a new job at a small web-company. She has been a Windows user all her life but she asked me what she should get in her new job. They were buying her a new computer.

Non-Competes in a Down Economy started by Aaron Brazell
I keep inching and inching into the beat of my colleague, Ray Capece of Venture Files, but I think it's pretty important and weighty times for web professionals and small business owners alike. Unlike anytime in our history, the uncertainty of the future of our world and country are great.
Startup Layoffs — The Unkindest Cut started by Aaron Brazell
Last week, Seesmic let seven of its 21 employees go -- a full third of the company. Were they in a crisis? Depends on how you look at it. CEO Loic LeMeur had raised $12M, a Series B $6M of which came in June. But do the math: 21 employees, fully loaded is around $200k/month. T
BlogHer Comes to DC, Technosailor.com represents 33% of Male Population started by Aaron Brazell
BlogHer, the female-focused blogging organiztion and ad-network, touched down in Suburban Maryland yesterday for the Washington, D.C. edition of the BlogHer Reach Out tour. I had a chance to attend and apparently now have the label of a BlogHim (whatever that means).
Why Pay For a Blog Platform? started by Aaron Brazell
An interesting auxiliary thread has developed over the past few days. It has to do with blog platforms.
So, it's not really a new discussion but it seems to be cropping up again a bit. It has to do with paid blog platforms versus free blog platforms.

Get a Management System — Now started by Aaron Brazell
All the warnings about the forthcoming next nuclear winter for startups drive home the need for a management system. Tough times call for tough measures, but that doesn't mean CEOs should get carte blanche for discretionary cuts -- a sure way to undermine morale.
Apple announces $800 laptop, Bloggers Report, Stock up 4 points started by Aaron Brazell
It was quite interesting to watch the market swing yesterday. Apple (AAPL) took a 20% hit on the market last week when it was expected that consumer spending on "bling" would be reduced. "Bling" stocks like Apple, Starbucks (SBUX) and other companies representing consumers "liv
Internet 2.0, Suck it Up and Lead started by Aaron Brazell
The Valley, which has so far been most unaffected by the downturn in the economy, may be reaching the end of it's golden thread. Sequoia Capital, one of the largest Venture Capital firms in the Valley, had a meeting with their portfolio companies advising them to "tighten their belts"

It’s the Economy, Stupid started by Aaron Brazell
Wow, so two weeks ago I wanted to write about technology and business. And I still do (and will). However, there comes a time when an adjustment needs to be made, and for me that time is now.

Startups Need Management, Too started by Aaron Brazell

Don’t Quit that Job Just Yet started by Aaron Brazell

You Must Be Somewhere started by Aaron Brazell
It's 2008 and with 2008 comes technology. It's awkward, I realize, for some small businesses to justify the use of social networks, blogs etc. After all, how can a small business trying to remain profitable encourage employees to waste time on Facebook?
“Citizen Journalism” — a label for recklessness that has to go. started by Aaron Brazell
I strongly believe that the idea of "citizen journalism" needs to be abandoned, for good. Heck, I even hate the word "blogger," especially when describing people like Josh Marshall, who won a Polk Award (for journalism) based on his Talking Points Memo work on the US Attorney sca

Sucks to be a Blog Network These Days started by Aaron Brazell
Having come from the blog space, I have a mostly unique understanding of the difficulties encountered when running a content business. There is always a war between traffic and community, profitability and loss, long term projections and short term realities. It's not an easy business.
Chapter 11, Pt. 2: Hard Lessons from the Chapter started by Aaron Brazell
Like others before us, we came to an ill-informed conclusion: Weâll work everything out without filing for Chapter 11. Surely all the creditors will go along with it, since it will have a much better chance of success! Who wouldnât prefer it to being crammed down by a curm
Facebook Shows New Life and Value started by Aaron Brazell
A few months ago, we started to see a shift in how Facebook could potentially be used in a different way. Newsfeed commenting was heralded as a Friendfeed style approach. Initially buried in the original Facebook design, I sort of shrugged it off as just another me too approach that wouldn't t
